I’ve always been captivated by the interplay of light and shadow.
There is something deeply compelling about the visual tension created by their stark contrast—a quiet intensity that gives an image both depth and character. This series of photographs is built around that tension, with light and shadow drawing the eye and giving you a reason to linger.
The two photographs below were taken on my way out for a skateboard ride. It takes an attentive eye and a certain affection for the ordinary to notice such scenes—and to catch them at the decisive moment.
I also love wandering through the streets of Shanghai with nowhere in particular to go. Such aimless walks often bring small surprises. One day, I came across three bags of dry leaves caught in a beam of sunlight. For a brief moment, something utterly ordinary became ineffably beautiful.
So, look closely, beauty is often hiding in plain sight.
