Heaven Lake, located in China’s Jilin province, is a deep blue crater lake formed at the summit of an ancient volcanic mountain named Changbai Mountain(长白山), meaning the ever-white mountain.

The tale has it that seeing Heaven Lake on your first visit is considered a stroke of good fortune, as the lake is frequently concealed by clouds and mist. Some even believe that it reveals itself only to those who are destined to see it. I was fortunate enough to see it clearly on my very first visit, and it felt like a rare blessing from the mountain, and, even more remarkably, twice in a row!

When seeing the sacred and elusive lake for the first time, I made a wish entirely dedicated to my sister, as she is the one who made this trip possible for me, and I was tremendously grateful.
